Carla Dearing

Carla joined the mayoral race in October, 2021, while continuing to serve as a Partner of Velo Group LLC. Carla co-founded Velo in 2019 to provide consulting services on strategy, growth and capital raising, CFO contractor services and fund administration services for companies with strong minority/underrepresented founders and businesses that target economic development affecting minority populations and social impact. Carla started her career at Morgan Stanley & Co. in financial analysis and new product development and went on to become a three-time founder. Her latest company, Sum180, a financial lifestyle app, was acquired in April, 2019. Carla graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan where she played DI Volleyball and she holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business. She is a frequent writer and speaker, an avid triathlete and a passionate cook, traveler and life-long learner.
